Getting to Graz

The train trip of about 2.5 hours from Vienna to Graz is a great way to get an oversight of the low alps scenery surround Graz and arriving in a relaxing manner. Trains every hour. Sit on left of train for greater access to views.

Schlossberg

There are many ways up to the Schlossberg, which has the iconic clock tower and very nice views of Graz. (It would have nice fortifications too if Napoleon hadn't dynamited them in 1809.) The most beautiful climb is up the steps from the Schlossbergplatz to the west through the hillside gardens. The other side of the mountain is forested.

I can recommend the "Kunsthaus", (house of art) and the Mur-island, both are truly architectural highlights. Moreover there are lots of nice restaurants and pubs in the inner city near the "Hauptplatz".

Very nice and interesting bicycle museum, a lot of austrian bicycles.
