my breakfast and lunch favorite is La Providencia bakery and cafe; they serve only two soups and one or two mains for lunch, have fantastic tartas, florentinas, and empanadas; and sweets and coffee are great. Just sit, watch people, read a paper; very laid back

Great for breakfast, snack or lunch. Great pastries, very good coffee (don't order capuccino in Argentina! You will get some fancy coffee reminiscent of king-sized marrochino; order cortado to get capuccino), great quiches and empanadas; for lunch choice of two soups and one or two mains only - very good though, especially for the price
