I stayed for a week at the Grosvenor House at Dubai Marina. Very well managed, reasonable rates, great breakfast.

Don't stay at the Crown Plaza in Dubai, it's run down and overprized.

I stayed 2 nights at the Flora Creek located in Deira. Highly reccommend this hotel. They offer hotel apartments for a reasonable rate. Staff is really friendly and willing to help.

Westin Hotel which has it's own beach looking directly at Atlantis, Stunning hotel & great staff & service.

The one and only Le Mirage is amazing - much quieter & more exclusive than some of the other resorts. And there are different sections, depending on whether you're a family, couple, etc. Huge pools, nice beach, kids club, great service & food. Good location, middle of Jumeirah/ Marina area (near Jumeirah Palm Island). Not cheap though! When I stayed a couple of years ago, there was an Australian manager.

I stayed a couple of nights at Atlantis, it was unbelievable. A bit pricey, but well worth it.
